Thrush is a fungal infection, commonly caused by a type of yeast called candida. Although candida is naturally present in the body, an imbalance can trigger thrush symptoms. Fluconazole 150mg (also known as Diflucan and other brand names) kills certain types of fungi and restores your body's natural balance.
Fluconazole treatment for thrush is simple - just one capsule to be swallowed with a glass of water. You can take this medicine at any time of day, with or without a meal.
Women taking fluconazole should see an improvement within a few days. Some women will notice improvement in 24 hours.
For men, the condition can take a little longer to clear up. The symptoms should clear up within a few days, although this can take up to a week.
If your condition hasn't cleared up within one week, you should consult a doctor.
Thrush is an infection which can occur without sexual contact, so it is not a sexually transmitted disease. However, the infection can be passed on during sex, so it is recommended that you should not have sex until the infection has cleared up.
If you regularly suffer from thrush, then it's advisable that both you and your partner have thrush treatment at the same time.
Taking too much can make you unwell, so contact your doctor or nearest hospital immediately if you take more than you should.
As with any medicine, there are side effects. Although a serious allergic reaction to fluconazole is rare. Directions
Diflucan oral suspension (diflucan oral suspension), is usually taken for 14 days (a single dose) on day 1, 7 days (a single dose) on day 2 and 14 days (two doses). Follow the directions on your prescription label and read the enclosed leaflet carefully before use. Use fluconazole for at least 14 days if symptoms persist after 14 days. If symptoms persist after 14 days, use diflucan oral suspension with caution. Do not take other drugs that contain fluconazole, such as penicillin or erythromycin, as fluconazole may affect the absorption of this medicine. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details.
Dosage and administration instructions for fluconazole in adults and children below the age of 12 years are given in the Patient Information Leaflet. Do not use fluconazole for more than 7 days or for the duration recommended by your doctor.
Diflucan oral suspension is usually taken once or twice a day with or without food. The dosage is based on the patient's age and severity of infection. Children may receive diflucan only once in a day, unless they are given a break in the treatment. To ensure that the diflucan is absorbed well, the medicine should be taken at least two hours before or after the food. Do not take this medicine on an empty stomach. If the patient does not respond to the dose, or if it becomes difficult to take the dose, or if the patient has trouble swallowing the tablets, or if the patient has trouble swallowing the pills, discontinue use of fluconazole and ask for another medicine that may be more appropriate for you.
Fluconazole can be taken with or without food. The daily dose may need to be changed, depending on the severity of the infection. If you have difficulty swallowing, you may take a larger dose of fluconazole, but it will not be as effective if you take it with food as it may be taken with food. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about ways to take fluconazole with food.
To clear up the infection completely, do not take any more medicine than recommended, and do not take the drug again if you have become unwell.
If you are taking the fluconazole suspension, it should be taken with or without food.
Store the suspension at room temperature, protect it from light, and keep it out of the reach of children.
Do not use fluconazole for or treat anaerobic infections, such as infections caused byAlso, do not use fluconazole in combination with other antibiotics. Contact your doctor if you experience nausea,, stomach upset, vomiting, or diarrhea after taking the medicine for anaerobic infections.
